- The inauguration of John Cooper as Nashville’s next mayor has been set for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28 at Stratford High School in East Nashville. Cooper has also announced his transition co-chairs.
- Mayor-elect Cooper says that the city’s relationship with the state legislature has been “needlessly hostile” in recent years, a trend he is hoping to change while in office. The legislature’s Republican super-majority is often at odds with the Metro Council, preempting or nullifying laws passed by that body.
- Mayor David Briley, on the other hand, will likely see his “Under One Roof” affordable housing plan either substantially changed or scrapped altogether. ?

- A Metro Parks employee was shot and killed near Shelby Park Golf Course Sunday evening, with police asking the public for leads on suspects. They also have not been able to determine a motive for the killing.
