• The inauguration of John Cooper as Nashville’s next mayor has been set for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28 at Stratford High School in East Nashville. Cooper has also announced his transition co-chairs.
• Mayor-elect Cooper says that the city’s relationship with the state legislature has been “needlessly hostile” in recent years, a trend he is hoping to change while in office. The legislature’s Republican super-majority is often at odds with the Metro Council, preempting or nullifying laws passed by that body.
• Mayor David Briley, on the other hand, will likely see his “Under One Roof” affordable housing plan either substantially changed or scrapped altogether. ?
• Neither of them will be meeting with the Community Oversight Board, nor will Chief of Police Steve Anderson, after a war of words erupted about how transparent the police force has been in the COB’s investigations.
• A Metro Parks employee was shot and killed near Shelby Park Golf Course Sunday evening, with police asking the public for leads on suspects. They also have not been able to determine a motive for the killing.
• The man shot by ICE agents in a shopping center parking lot in Antioch earlier this month was arrested in front of a notable Nashville immigration law office. An attorney from the firm is representing the man.
• Arnold’s Country Kitchen, a meat-and-three restaurant near the Gulch, received a $42,500 property tax bill this year, nearly four times higher than it was seven years ago, making it difficult on the family owned business. #SaveArnolds
• Three men have been arrested for the beating death of a 30-year-old homeless man in Downtown Nashville in June.

• Vanderbilt University is eliminating plastic water and soda bottles from campus in an effort to be more carbon neutral on campus.
• About 60 downtown bar and restaurant workers participated in an active shooter training exercise at ACME Feed & Seed.
• The Nashville Predators played hockey on Monday (sort of) in a pre-season double header with the Florida Panthers that can best be described as a glorified scrimmage, but they did win both games. At this point, we’ll take any hockey at all. ?
• The scoreboard at Bridgestone Arena is said to be 300 percent larger than the last one, which itself was pretty good size.
• Metro Health Department officials are recommending that people get their flu shots early this year, with a confirmed flu death already recorded before the expected start of the flu season. ?
• And finally, country artist Chris Lane and StubHub donated $80,000 worth of musical instruments to Hunter’s Lane High School this week.
