- The controversial plan to privatize meter parking in Nashville has drawn the attention of state lawmakers who have voiced their concerns about the deal. It could lead to a nullification bill being proposed next session.
- Tennessee will soon allow online sports gambling, joining other states that have legalized and taxed the wager sites since a recent Supreme Court ruling ended New Jersey and Nevada’s monopoly on the industry. It is a move that did not have the support of Governor Bill Lee, but he will not veto the legislation.
- Shelby and Davidson counties are weighing their legal options after the legislature narrowly passed a school voucher program that would allow residents of those counties to pay for private school using public funds. Critics point to how only those two counties are eligible and already struggle with the costs of public education.
- That new winged mural in the Gulch that got all the attention because of its (now confirmed) connection to a Taylor Swift album release will be removed this weekend because it wasn’t intended to stay up for very long in the first place. We wonder which museum would take it.
- Kid Rock has been given a giant middle finger sculpture for his Nashville-area property after seeing the artist’s work in Vermont. The original sculpture was erected to protest city leaders, and it’s probably applicable here as well.

- An investigative report suggests that the chief of staff for the Tennessee House Speaker may have altered evidence before submitting it to pursue charges against an activist that had organized protests at the capitol. The local District Attorney has requested a special prosecutor to investigate.
- A new coalition of transit supporters called Connect Mid TN has formed to support a renewed push for improving mass public transit in the region, a year after the failure of the transit referendum. This iteration includes groups that did not support the referendum citing concerns over cost and implementation.
- We’re not exactly sure why you would want it, but apparently you can buy a piece of the huge NFL Draft stage as a souvenir. They are mostly selling chunks of carpet for charity.
- Thelma Jones, the owner of the “Dairy King” of East Thompson Lane has died, leaving behind the legacy of the meat-n-three that she and her late husband relocated following the 2010 flood. Jones was 86.
- In “Old Nashville keeps closing” news, the Art & Invention Gallery in East Nashville and the Downtown Antique Mall will both close up shop after many years in town.
