- The proposed land swap deal between the city and developer Tony Giarratana where the city would trade the Church Street park for another property drew a standing room only crowd and some rather passionate speakers at the public hearing Monday night. The deal would have to be approved through the Metro Council.
- About 260 people signed up for the Nashville Connector “Commuter Challenge” this week to encourage people to take alternative forms of transit rather than driving their own personal vehicles solo. The program aims to encourage people and businesses to reduce traffic congestion
- Fisk University has partnered with the Tennessee Department of Environment Conservation to help it have a more environmentally sustainable campus, the first of its kind in the state. The program aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce food waste.
- A former MNPD sergeant has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing more than $100,000 from individuals while serving search warrants. He will also have to pay $80,000 in restitution.

- The Metro Nashville Public Schools Board failed to approve the 2019-20 school calendar, moving the issue into schedule crunch because four members were absent from the meeting and another abstained. Parents and community members have been pressing officials for answers.
- The Nashville Predators (7-2-0) saw a two-goal lead evaporate against the San Jose Sharks (5-3-1) at home Tuesday night, losing the game 5-4. The Predators travel to New Jersey tonight to face the Devils (4-2-0) and return home to host the Edmonton Oilers (3-3-1) in a rematch Saturday night.
- The long rebuild of I-440 is set to begin soon, with crews replacing noise barriers and preparing to widen the loop to six lanes. The major project will be to crush the current concrete surface and replace it with a layer of asphalt.
- A construction worker was killed in an accident in an elevator shaft at a hospital construction site. The number of construction injuries and deaths has increased in Nashville during the current building boom.
- Nashville’s Gibson Guitars could soon emerge from bankruptcy protection with new leadership, NPR reports. The company filed for bankruptcy in May of this year.
- We are starting to wonder if axe throwing bars are going to start outnumbering hot chicken restaurants here soon.
- Tennessee ranked third in the nation for the hardest state to cast a ballot according to a newspaper study. The early registration deadline and reduced polling locations weighed heavily on the ranking.
- Despite those obstacles, Nashville has sent more than 17 percent of its registered voters to the polls already during the early voting period, which ends Thursday, November 1. There are also more than 90,000 more voters on the rolls than there were in 2014.
- Eight houses and a business were raided as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation in East Nashville. Police put a sign in front of the locations saying that warrants were being served.
