- PSA: There is some severe weather expected today, so be safe out there. The worst of it is expected in the afternoon.
- There have been 25 weapons stolen from cars in the midtown area that were left in valet parking lots since the start of 2018. Police advise, among other things, to leave your guns at home.
- Ten students at an Antioch high school are being charged with rioting stemming from otherwise peaceful protests during National Walk Out Day, an event aimed at promoting safer schools. The students tore down a flag and damaged a police patrol car.
- A woman who allowed FBI agents to secretly record her conversation with then-Judge Casey Moreland is now facing charges of her own after records allegedly show that she embezzled funds from the foundation connected to the drug court program. Her recordings led to additional charges against the former judge, including obstruction of justice.
- A body believed to be that of a missing Nashville Firefighter was found Saturday in Humphreys County. Jesse Reed, 32, went missing March 5 after his vehicle plunged into the water near Mason’s Boat Dock in Waverly.
- TDOT says that while its accelerated bridge construction practices are similar to those used in the deadly bridge collapse in Miami on Friday, they want to assure the public that each project is different and that safety is their top priority. The downtown Interstate bridge projects, known as Fast Fix 8, were completed last summer.
- The league-leading Nashville Predators (47-14-10) became the first team in the NHL to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche Saturday after beating the Arizona Coyotes (38-25-8) 3-2 the night before. The team is in Buffalo tonight for a game against the Sabres (23-36-12).
- It isn’t your imagination: the number of reported potholes in Davidson County has doubled compared to last year. You can call 311 to report potholes that might have been missed.
- Some Nashville residents have lost patience with all the noise created by the city’s booming residential construction market and are asking city leaders for help. Public Works says that allowed construction hours are set on a per-site basis until complaints are received.
- The Nashville Scene has a cover story on Nashville’s new mayor David Briley, which is a good primer if you’re unfamiliar with him beyond his last name being on road signs near Opryland. The mayor has a busy budget period coming up for the new fiscal year while also campaigning to stay on the job in August.
