Happy Hour: Bundle Up

  • Snow tonight? It’s possible! [Nashville WX]
  • Consequently, Lipscomb’s Lighting of the Green festivities we mentioned the other day have been moved inside because the weather is gross. [WTVF]
  • Amazon.com is in talks with state officials to build two Amazon centers in the Chattanooga area, which could create 1,400 jobs over the next few years. The downside, as our friends at Chattarati point out, is that we may have to start paying taxes on our Amazon orders. [Tennessean]
  • The US and Russia may finally reach an agreement about adoptions after a Shelbyville mom shipped her adopted kid back to Russia by himself on an airplane back in April and threw the whole system into jeopardy. [WTVF]
  • Classes are set to resume tomorrow at the Martin Luther King Magnet School after the building caught fire over the weekend. No one was hurt, but about 1,000 textbooks were destroyed and several classrooms were extensively damaged. [WKRN]
  • Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will be hanging out in Brentwood tomorrow to sign books, but only if you’re a Costco member. [WKRN]
  • We realize it’s no laughing matter, but every time we see the words “butt grabber” in an actual headline, we can’t help but giggle. [WKRN]
  • Another story that makes us laugh: Loose Emu Captured in Maury County. Particularly the part about the owner’s cousin lassoing it and carting it back to the family farm. [WSMV]

A cop brings his car to my shop he told me sometime last year a new law was passed that made it harder for cops to dismiss tickets for friends and family. He actually complained to my face that he couldn’t even get his own brother off the hook anymore. He thought it was really awful and for some reason thought I’d agree with him.
