Good morning, Nashville. Crews are busy setting up for the miniature one-night version of CMApocalypse that some also know as the CMA Awards. The show is entering its 44th year and will take place tomorrow night at the Bridgestone Arena at 7pm. We’ll also have the added bonus of Dierks Bentley filming a Good Morning America performance early tomorrow morning, which should do wonders for your morning commute! But hey, thousands of tourists are pouring into our city tomorrow because they love us, and probably also because we are so darn good-looking. We also don’t have flood debris laying around this time, so that’s a plus. Bring it on!
- Rep. Jones passes away. State Rep. Ulysses Jones of Memphis passed away this morning after being reelected just last week. Fun fact: Rep. Jones was one of the two paramedics called to the scene to try to revive Elvis Presley when died at Graceland in 1977.
- You’ll shoot your eye out, kid. There was a bit of a scare at the Federal Courthouse on Broadway this morning when shots were reportedly fired, but it turns out that a security officer just accidentally shot himself in the hand, somehow. Carry on!
- Bits & pieces. What would you do with 55 pounds of high-quality pot? Probably not pour soy sauce all over it, that’s for sure … We’re suffering from cute overload during that time of the year when the Nashville Zoo animals paint for charity … Some heartless jerks are trying to scalp Garth Brooks FLOOD RELIEF BENEFIT tickets for as much as $6,000 … Who knew Levy’s in Green Hills was the oldest family-owned retail store in America? It’s celebrating its 155th year, which means it was founded during the Civil War … That Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow movie premiered at the Green Hills Regal last night.
