Good morning, Nashville. Davidson County’s 287(g) immigration enforcement (ICE) program could be effectively ended by next Wednesday morning if the Metro Council chooses to vote it down at Tuesday’s meeting. Because of some changes at the federal level regarding transparency, the program has been up in the air for the past several weeks. Sheriff Daron Hall, who has overseen the program since the beginning, hopes to see it continue.
- We need this like a hole in the head. Brad Paisley is teaming up with Heroes and Star Trek star Zachary Quinto and the producer of One Tree Hill to create a new Nashville reality show. Though this reminds us an awful lot of that other Nashville reality show that flopped on NBC a few years ago, we sort of can’t wait.
- Tax hike? State lawmakers are kicking around the idea of a tax increase to start closing the revenue gap that’s been wreaking all sorts of havoc on the state budget this year.
- Bits & pieces. Everyone is trying to figure out how to cash in on the space around the proposed Music City Center … The already-enormous Nashville West shopping center is expanding some more … Guess what? I-440 is closed again this weekend. Eastbound.
