Good morning, Nashville. As much as we love our Preds, we can’t help but get a little bit bummed out when we hear that they could owe us as much as $400,000 in ticket taxes they, um, forgot to pay. Both city and team officials are still working on sorting out the mess, but it looks like the problem started when the new lease was being drafted in November 2007. So far, neither side is offering a real explanation until they sift through the investigation.
- Something stinks. City officials are testing the air quality in Franklin after residents started complaining that certain parts of the city smell pretty gross. Though we’ve certainly got our own Pockets Of Stink to worry about in Nashville, theirs do sound a little more toxic.
- Not-so-free hugs. Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus member Kim McMillan is resorting to some creative-and-kind-of-awkward fundraising methods to raise money for her gubernatorial bid in 2010. And by “kind of awkward” we mean that she’s selling her hugs for $1 apiece. Which… is weird.
- Bits & pieces. Leave it to Rep. Stacey Campfield to try to ban schools from discussing homosexuality … Former Rep. Nathan Vaughn is suing the Ethics Commission over a ruling they made about a complaint he filed against Rep. Jason “Not The Speaker” Mumpower … It’s almost like Governor Phil wants our kids to graduate and be successful or something … We’re thanking our lucky stars that we don’t live in Perry County, TN where the unemployment rate is 27 %.
