- After finally locating a Christmas tree for the city (though it would have been kinda cool to have the National Guard to airlift one from Mt. Juliet), NES chopped it down today despite protests from the environmentalists. The tree was 60 years old. [Tennessean]

- The teenage terrorist who stirred things up at MTSU earlier this year was ordered by a judge to do a 30-day stint in a mental institution. [WKRN]
- The rash of crime in normally-quiet Green Hills continues to astound, this time with a robbery-kidnapping of a homeowner and two teenagers. The five gunmen robbed their home, ordered them into their own car to drive to the ATM, then left them in the parking lot of Hillsboro High School and took their car. [Tennessean]
