Good morning, Nashville, and happy Valentine’s Day if you’re into that sort of thing! One thing we can all be into is the beautiful spring weather we get to enjoy this week. Temperatures will hit the upper-50s this week and possibly climb to 70 by Thursday. Hard to believe we were all sitting in the blizzard traffic jam from hell less than a week ago, right? Since it’s still only February, we’re probably not quite out of the wintry woods yet but we’ll certainly take it. And if all this warm weather and sunshine puts you in the mood to get married today, remember that the Belmont Mansion has you covered.
- Mayor Dean has an opponent. Metro Councilman Michael Craddock will be taking on Mayor Dean in the August mayoral election. But as WSMV points out, an incumbent mayor has never lost a re-election in Nashville, ever.
- Things get interesting. Speaking of Mayor Dean, he threw in his endorsement for the proposed nondiscrimination ordinance while the Nashville Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to Metro Council members expressing their concern that “the legislation does not reflect a process in which diligent and responsible research has been conducted.”
- Bits & pieces. Surprise! The TVA is raising our rates again … Congrats to Lady Antebellum and all the other folks who represented Nashville well at the Grammys last night … A 26-year old Centennial High School grad had a front row seat to the Egyptian revolution … A group of Tennessee lawmakers are continuing to work on passing an Arizona-like immigration reform here in Tennessee.
