Good morning, Nashville. We just can’t help but get a little giddy when we check out the weekend weather report, which is currently calling for 70s and sunshine tomorrow. Overnight and early morning temperatures will dip into the 50s with higher elevations possibly even seeing some 40s. All we have to do is get through a few pop-up showers around noon and we’ll be golden for the rest of the weekend.
- Debt-free is the way to be. Out of 50 states and Washington, DC, Tennessee ranks dead last in debt. As in, we currently borrow less money than any other state in the country.
- Indian tribes lose recognition. Six Indian tribes will lose their state recognition as a result of a lawsuit against the Tennessee Commission on Indian Affairs because the commission violated open meeting laws when voting to recognize the tribes in June. The commission is also now defunct.
- Zero tolerance. The State Troopers would like to remind everyone that they won’t be tolerating any sort of driving under the influence over the holiday weekend and they’ll have sobriety checkpoints set up all over the place. So call (or text!) a cab, call your mom or do whatever you need to do to find a safe ride home.
- Bits & pieces. The Titans toppled the Saints last night, but it was awfully close … We’re not shy about loving all things local, and now there’s even a local energy drink … The 28th Avenue Connector concept is back in the running … Operation Photo Rescue will be in town next week to help flood victims restore flood-damaged photos.
