  • The gentleman responsible for getting our state’s crack tax overturned is now filing a class-action suit against the state to get back the money that was collected under the law, which is apparently over $10 million. [Tennessean]
  • A new study shows that 1/5 of the folks caught driving drunk will be caught again for the same offense. [Tennessean]
  • The Contributor, a paper produced by Nashville’s homeless community and advocates, won a national award over the weekend. [WPLN]
  • Speaking of newspapers, you might’ve noticed a new one gracing the stands: the Nashville Retrospect newspaper. Like its name implies, it posts articles and pictures from Nashville in decades past. [WPLN]
  • Some unlikely businesses are starting to take food stamps to keep business up now that more folks are using them. [WKRN]

I like the idea of the Nashville Retrospect thing, but wouldn't it make more sense as a website? Is it just all ads on the inside?

Thanks for posting my meerkat picture – I did a doubletake in my feed reader when I saw it. :)

A newspaper that covers old news? We already have one of those. It's called The Tennessean.

Yeah, you would think so. I think the inside has actual articles, but it may only be a four-page deal.

Thanks for dropping it in the pool! We love us some meerkats :)

Haha, awful. Morgan and I saw the Nashville Retrospect thing on a news stand at a coffee shop and were a little confused as to why you'd start a novelty print publication like that when actual print news publications aren't even doing well. But hey, I'll be curious to see where it goes.

If you were lucky enough to see the story news channel 5 did on the food stamp expansion maybe you notice a few things I noticed

    1) A woman pulled her food stamps card out of a Luis Vuitton wallet.

    2) A woman (could have been the same one who knows) loaded up her food stamp groceries into the back of a very nice new SUV. (maybe an Tahoe or Escalade or something)

am I reading too much into this?
