Bright & Early: A Dose Of Fresh Air Edition
Good morning, Nashville. A Southwest flight from Nashville to Baltimore had a close call yesterday when the fuselage of the plane more or less sprang a leak. A hole appeared in the cabin, about one foot by one foot, and passengers could actually see the sky. The plane was diverted to an airport in West Virginia until Southwest could bring in another plane. Fortunately no one was injured and one passenger had this to say: “As soon as we touched down and got to the airport in West Virginia, everybody cheered; everybody high fived the captain, some gave him hugs. But, a great crew, great flight crew and great flight attendants. Everybody just did what they were supposed to do.” Yep, sounds like Southwest. Southwest spent the better part of the night performing inspections on the rest of the fleet.
- Getting creative. A sports bar in Johnson City has a snarky answer to the new gun legislation, which goes into effect today: Give out pistols to patrons. Well, water pistols. The first 200 folks in Numan’s Cafe & Sports Bar get free water guns today and “a massive water gun fight is anticipated.” Why didn’t someone in Nashville think of this?
- Good samaritan. A Nashville cab driver became at least one person’s hero after he dutifully returned a bag containing $6,000 to a blind passenger who accidentally left it behind on the way to work one morning.
- Bits & pieces. In case you missed it, Jeremy Piven and Ed Helms stopped by Tootsie’s last night to get their groove on … Police arrested a guy in McMinn County for being drunk and having 40 pairs of stolen panties shoved down his pants … Metro Police are on the lookout for four men who have been breaking into cars and homes in Green Hills … The remains of $11,000 worth of booze stolen from Blue Moon Lagoon were recovered last night.
A year ago on Nashvillest: We braced ourselves for Gibson Guitar’s takeover of Second Life, discovered an ex-con’s creative attempt to pick up chicks on Craigslist, and had a few unfortunate run-ins with our state’s toxic/nuclear/hazardous stuff.
