Happy Hour: You’ve Got Until Midnight
- Lots and lots of talk about today’s teabaggin’ at the Capitol. Estimates for the turnout ranged from 1,000 (haters’ guestimate) to 7,500 (according to the organizers). Metro PD puts the crowd at 2,800 – 3,000. This guy just wanted some pot. [Tennessean]
- Well, y’all, it was nice while it lasted: The bill to bring wine to Tennessee grocery stores is no more. Thank you, Tennessee House. Look out for us next year. [WTVF]
- Though it does make it a little sweeter that Franklin, TN is setting out to become the Tequila Shot Capitol of the World. We’re serious. [Tennessean]
- A 9-year old got all angry at his mother in a Chattanooga Dollar General and burned the entire place to the ground. Kids these days! [WTVF]
- The ACLU is threatening to sue the pants off of Metro Schools, who they claim block GLBT rights and education websites in classrooms. [Pith In The Wind]

Photo Of The Day: April 15, 2009
We promise we’ll stop with the disaster panoramas soon, but this stunning shot of the riverfront flooding actually got buried in the photo pool from April 5th, taken by josed.velazco. For perspective, none of those flags are supposed to be underwater. Again, best viewed large.
Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you keep giving us stuff to post. Don’t worry–we’ll give you props. Just add them to the pool or tag them with “Nashvillest” if you’re feeling lazy.

Murfreesboro Tornado Aftermath: How Can We Help?
Last Friday, the lives of many of our friends & neighbors in Murfreesboro were changed as an EF-4 tornado ripped through several neighborhoods, damaging somewhere around 800 buildings and completely demolishing almost 100 homes (WTVF, WKRN, WSMV). Additionally, the tornado claimed the life of young mother Kori Bryant and her 9-week-old daughter Olivia, and left father & husband John Bryant in the hospital fighting for his life. So how can we help?
We’re collecting a list of resources available for both those displaced by the storms, as well as those who wish to help out. Please drop us a comment or email to tips@nashvillest.com if you have an opportunity to add.
BRYANT FAMILY MEMORIAL FUND: Help out a family in need.

Bright & Early: Tax Day Teabagging Edition
Good morning, Nashville. The dreaded Tax Day is upon us, and this year promises to be slightly more interesting than years past, especially if you happen to work anywhere near the Capitol. As of this morning, almost 900 folks have RSVP’d on Facebook for the Epic Tax Day Teabagging Of The Century protest thing that’s happening between noon and 2pm today at War Memorial Plaza. From the Facebook page: “Tax Day Tea Party is designed to ride the wave of anger and push-back currently rising from all parts of the country against the Government’s irresponsible ‘Tax and Spend’ plan to bring prosperity to our nation and its Economy.” Should be quite the spectacle! So, Nashvillest downtown operatives, grab your cameras and head on down to the Plaza–You know what to do.
- Second chances. You all will be very relieved to hear that the terrorist llama from Maury County that ran around spitting on people and stomping on puppies has found a new home at a nice farm in Brentwood. Supposedly, it plays well with others and has put its terrorist ways behind it. Oh, and they named it Muffin.
- It’s that time again. The Titans’ 2009 schedule was released today, kicking off on September 10th in Pittsburgh. And because they did so well last year (we’re blocking out the post-season, folks) they’ve managed to land 4 prime time games.
- Bits & pieces. Aside from Maggie Moo’s, tons of businesses are offering tax day deals, so live it up! … John Bryant is still at the hospital on his way to recovery, and Jack FM is holding a request-a-thon to raise some funds … 7 Tennessee sites added to National Register of Historic Places.
