Bright & Not-So-Early: This Isn’t Kansas Edition

Good morning, Nashville. We hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday, because it’s heading out today. Strong to severe storms are expected this afternoon and evening, and there’s still a chance of tornadoes, similar to the weather we experienced on Saturday. So batten down the hatches and keep an ear out for those sirens! We can haz sun plz?
- Kidnapped? J/K! Two kids from Hermitage were thought to have been kidnapped after a violent incident in their home, but it turns out that the folks who snatched them away were actually friends of the family. That’s a happy ending if we’ve ever heard one!
- See Stimulus Run. Food stamp recipients saw an increase in their allotted benefits yesterday, as a result of Tennessee’s stimulus check. Benefits will increase anywhere up to $80 per month, depending on the family size and income.
- Utility bill bill. We’re sort of tired of seeing our utility bills ride the rollercoaster of rate hikes, but it probably won’t stop anytime soon. A new bill introduced in Tennessee legislation that intends to encourage gas conservation could actually make it easier for our gas companies to raise their rates. Oh boy!
- Bits & pieces. The ever-painful Metro budgeting process has begun … Um, we’ll let you guys check this one out for yourselves … The US won the big soccer game that clogged up traffic downtown all night!
