Happy Hour: Swept Away
- So it rained today! A lot! And this is our favorite video in the world: Fido in Hillsboro Village having the Best Week Ever. [Flickr]
- This is our second favorite video in the world: 82-year old state Sen. Doug Henry trying to figure out the difference between a Twitter and a Blackberry. Can we blame him? [Post Politics]
- Best we can tell from the initial reports, a tornado that touched down near the airport, wreaked some havok, shut down BNA, and may have caused some accidents on the interstate. [WKRN]
- We totally forgot that the TVA dropped our energy rate by another 7% as of yesterday. It’s like Christmas! [WSMV]

Photo Of The Day: April 2, 2009
There aren’t a whole lot of things more relaxing than a drive down the Natchez Trace Parkway, where you can drive for miles without another car in sight. In this project, missbethd has stitched together 32 photos of the parkway to create one long stretch of deserted road. Check out the full-sized image here.
Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you keep giving us stuff to post. Don’t worry–we’ll give you props. Just add them to the pool or tag them with “Nashvillest” if you’re feeling lazy.

Bright & Not-So-Early: This Isn’t Kansas Edition

Good morning, Nashville. We hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday, because it’s heading out today. Strong to severe storms are expected this afternoon and evening, and there’s still a chance of tornadoes, similar to the weather we experienced on Saturday. So batten down the hatches and keep an ear out for those sirens! We can haz sun plz?
- Kidnapped? J/K! Two kids from Hermitage were thought to have been kidnapped after a violent incident in their home, but it turns out that the folks who snatched them away were actually friends of the family. That’s a happy ending if we’ve ever heard one!
- See Stimulus Run. Food stamp recipients saw an increase in their allotted benefits yesterday, as a result of Tennessee’s stimulus check. Benefits will increase anywhere up to $80 per month, depending on the family size and income.
- Utility bill bill. We’re sort of tired of seeing our utility bills ride the rollercoaster of rate hikes, but it probably won’t stop anytime soon. A new bill introduced in Tennessee legislation that intends to encourage gas conservation could actually make it easier for our gas companies to raise their rates. Oh boy!
- Bits & pieces. The ever-painful Metro budgeting process has begun … Um, we’ll let you guys check this one out for yourselves … The US won the big soccer game that clogged up traffic downtown all night!
