We know we just overloaded you with Mixed Reviews yesterday, but we missed an important one: Nashville is Forbes’ 22nd Most Wired City. We were 25th last year, so cheers for progression! We’re the only Tennessee city on the list, and we beat out Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Honolulu, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Columbus and Austin. The rank is broken down into three smaller categories: Broadband Adoption (we ranked #24), Access Options (#8) and Wi-fi Hotspots (#22). Um, we <3 teh internets!!1

I'm proud of Nashville and all, but i don't see how we can possibly be wired more than Austin. You can't go into a gas station convenience store without seeing a sign on the door that says “free wifi”. Every restaurant, etc has it. It isn't optional for businesses there anymore. They also have a much bigger (and more utilized) fiber network, though we're improving in that area rapidly.

Chattanooga is going to be hot on your heels in '09 as EPB rolls out Fiber to the Home!

I was a little surprised that Austin was placed 30th as well. If you look at their individual scores, they scored very low on the three categories. For instance, where we ranked 8th in Access Options (the number of companies providing high-speed internet access, they ranked 26th.

    Is that a challenge I hear?! ;)
