Happy Hour: In Which We Begin Our Mass Exodus
- TDOT is getting in the holiday spirit by taking a few days off this Thanksgiving. This is good news for all of us who will be part of the annual mass exodus out of Nashville because they’ve put construction projects on hold from Wednesday afternoon until Monday morning. [WSMV]
- Trace Adkins has crowned himself the bad boy of country music, asserting that he gets all the “nasty songs” pitched to him that no one else will record. Because really, Honky Tonk Badonkadonk sure set the bar high. [WSMV]
- A Mount Juliet man was the lucky winner of $800,000 in the lottery over the weekend. [WSMV]
- A small plane carrying three people crashed this morning in North Nashville off of Whites Creek Pike. The crash, which killed all three passengers, was flying in from Arkansas. [WKRN]
- There’s a wonderful flame war brewing in the comments section of the Tennessean’s article about one of Mayor Dean’s top advisers taking a leave of absence to fight the English Only ordinance. [Tennessean]

Wife Swap? [Gems From The Nashville Craigslist]

There’s a market for everything on Craigslist, including wife swaps. We’re tempted to submit this one to passiveaggressivenotes.com! Ouch.
****WIFE SWAP ANYONE??**** (Nashville)
Im looking for another wife (physical appearance as far from important) for the day to swap with my beautiful lazy wife. My house is in serious disarray and somehow she is unable to make the smallest dent in cleaning it. I spent half my one day off of work this week helping her get started cleaning our home and after working a 16 hour shift come home to a newly chemically tanned wife laying in bed with a house twice as dirty as we left it. This day happens to be my birthday and she promised me that she would finish cleaning it as this is the one thing I asked for when asked what I wanted for my birthday. I even proceeded to call and check on her progress thru out the day twice and each time she happened to be taking a break due to exhaustion from highly detailed cleaning. Actually one of the two times I had to have my sisters boyfriend come to the house and physically check on her because i was worried and she failed to answer the phone only to find out that she and one of our sons were so into playing a video game together she was unable to pull herself away to answer it. Just needed to vent because it seems to help my wife who spends at least two hours on craigslist a day!

Photo Of The Day: November 24, 2008
One day we’ll get tired of the Radnor Lake fall foliage pictures (or all the trees will finally get naked), but as of now, we’re still in love! Thanks to relic57 for the submission.
Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you keep giving us stuff to post. Don’t worry–we’ll give you props. Just add them to the pool or tag them with “Nashvillest” if you’re feeling lazy.

Keith & Nicole Remind Us Why We’re Awesome [Aw, Shucks!]
In a recent interview with the Tennessean, actress Nicole Kidman had this to say about her new home town:
“We never get bothered, and the people are incredibly friendly and easygoing. It really has been a perfect match for me. I don’t want to go on too much about it to the rest of the world because then more people will come here,” she says, laughing. “It’s a secret. Keith keeps saying, ‘Shush, shush, keep this a secret,’ because it’s so beautiful.”
Aw, shucks… keep talking like that and we’ll hide you from the paparazzi forever, Nicole! Read the rest of the love fest over at the Tennessean.

Bright & Early: Decisions, Decisions! Edition
Good morning, Nashville. We woke up to the news that city officials have FINALLY decided on a Christmas tree for us, which they’ll (and by “they” we mean our BFFs at NES) be putting up in the Public Square on December 5th. Apparently it’s been a rough year for the Christmas tree farms due to the drought that produced enough ugly trees that officials were worried they wouldn’t be able to find a cute one. We’re glad to know that the folks at Metro Parks & Recreation take their jobs so seriously. Can’t wait to see it!
- Deadrick gets prettified. Speaking of trees getting cut down and stuff (tree carcasses, as it were)–you can now take a look at the renderings for what Deadrick Street is going to look like once they finish demolishing it and rebuilding it. Deadrick was once one of the scarier streets in Nashville when it doubled as the bus depot, but now that they’ve shipped all of the homeless people out built a new station, they want it to look nice.
- Nashville gets famous. When you’re watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade this year, you might see some familiar faces. A few lucky (and talented!) Nashvillians from LaVergne High School will be gracing the streets of New York this year as a part of the Great American Marching Band.
- Bits & pieces. Believe it or not, the school revenue situation might actually get worse … Four people were taken to the hospital with stab wounds after a bar fight on Dickerson Pike … Vandy attributes Saturday’s loss to Tennessee to a lack of emotion? … BNA has supposedly reduced waits.
