You Tell Us: What’s Your Favorite Warm, Winter Drink In Town?

The past week has finally moved us into temperatures that call for turning the heat on at night (but not if you live in the Nashvillest HQ), and we’ve found ourselves scurrying to the store several times for more milk, hot chocolate, apple cider, spiced rum, tea, coffee and… pumpkin beer. A few local coffee shops have concocted delicious warm beverages just for this type of weather, but we want to know what YOUR favorites are (and yes, alcoholic drink suggestions are more than welcome). Is it Crema’s Mayan Hot Chocolate? Bongo Java’s “Apple Pie” Cider? Or are you a sucker for Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte? And while we’re at it, does anywhere in this town serve a great hot buttered rum?

You’re welcome to share drinks you enjoy at home, but mega bonus points if it’s available at a Nashville coffee shop, restaurant or bar.

At the moment, I am really hooked on the Cafe Mocha with a shot of Toasted Marshmallow from Drinkhaus!
  • Oh LORD that sounds amazing. Must try. Is it on the menu or did you come up with the bright idea to add the flavor shot?
  • Jason
The Cafe Mocha is on the menu. And they have a list of a bunch of new flavor shots. Eldenberry, Toasted Marshmallow, etc...

It was cool that day and I thought to myself, "Man, I would love to be by a campfire making s'mores." Then, two winged cherubs flew down in a blaze of white light and blistering metal harmonies. One pointed to the Cafe Mocha, the other to the Toasted Marshmallow flavor shot. The rest is history.
  • I am a sucker for pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, never the frap version though. bleh..always hot and when someone else is paying for it. =)

I also had a sample of their hot chocolate with the salt on top- it's pretty new I think and was really rich and over the top but yummy if you dig chocolate.

I still need to really hit up some Nashville establishments- the trek just doesn't quite work out for early coffee breaks, all the way from the Boro. Do what you gotta though...

Beer: Blackstone Stout, Yazoo Dos Perros or Guiness (all on tap of course) for year round beers. Spatan Oktoberfest is king, Sam Adam's Octoberfest is great, as is the Blackstone Harvest fest. Avoid the Blue Moon Harvest at all costs, one of the worst seasonal beer's I've ever had.

Hot drink: Coffee in general works right now, but hopefully from any of the good coffee shops in Nashville.

Honorable mention: Water and Orange Juice.

I've been looking for good hot chocolate in Nashville for so long! I'll have to try Crema-- thanks for the tip. Also, I had a pumpkin spice frappuccino from Starbucks recently and it was kind of gross, possibly because I got the light version.

If you are ever in Mt. Juliet, stop at Taylor Made Cafe'. They have the best hot chocolate I have had, ANYWHERE!
  • I don't ever go to Starbucks, but SO MANY people live and die by those pumpkin spice lattes. Maybe some day I'll try one.
  • I hate to be cliche, but I have to say Bongo has the best hot chocolate I've found in this city. I don't know what they do to it, but it's incredible. It's pretty much the only thing that gets me into Bongo.
  • i'm a big fan of the bulldog at fido. a big, fresh cup of their fine brew with shots (multiple) of espresso?? yes, please. sign me up for that!
  • That sounds good any time of the year :D
