What If Happy Hour Was ALL DAY, EVERY DAY?

Wouldn’t this world be a better place? Yeah, we think so too. We’ll soon know the sheer joy of all-day happy hour when the new Pie In The Sky Pizza location (in the old Longhorn Steakhouse building) opens next week. They’ll have 2-for-1 Yazoo drafts… All day, every day. Count us in! Now if only the Cool Springs location would swing us the same special… Our lunch breaks would get a little brighter.

Happy Hour: Raining On Our Parade

  • Well guys, with 57.7% of the city tuning into last night’s debate, we’d say we won. [Tennessean]
  • Even some country stars got in on the action! [WTVF]
  • Speaking of that, as promised, we managed to dig up the disastrous video footage of John Rich performing a rousing rendition of “Raisin’ McCain” on the CBS Early Show in a crowd of Obama supporters. Bonus points for anyone who can spot the Nashvillest editor. [YouTube]
  • And we got almost 3 inches of rain in the past 24 hours after months and months of drought. [Nashville WX]
  • I-65 has become the first biofuels corridor in the country, and though we’re not entirely sure what that means, they say that we can now drive the entire 886 on alternative fuels if the mood strikes. [WSMV]
  • BREAKING: The Nolensville Walmart has finally added valet parking. We must go there. [WSMV]
  • Metro has determined that someone actually lit Mario’s on fire. On purpose. [WKRN]
  • On a happier note still, our health care costs rose at five times the rate of our incomes in Tennessee. [WSMV]

Photo Of The Day: October 8, 2008

We can joke a lot about the world melting down along with the stock market, but in a struggling economy, we’re probably going to be seeing more scenes like this one captured by jlynn3187.

Photo Of The Day will be a recurring feature for Nashvillest as long you keep giving us stuff to post. Don’t worry–we’ll give you props. Just add them to the pool or tag them with “Nashvillest” if you’re feeling lazy.

Bright & Early: Business As Usual Edition

Good morning, Nashville. We’re pretty exhausted after our epic night in the international spotlight, and what’s all this about water falling from the sky? It’s raining, you say? We’ll believe it when we see it. At any rate, the candidates are pulling out of town as we speak, trying to put last night’s colorful debate behind them, and Nashville returns to business as usual. Good thing we have these pictures to remember them by.

  • English Only makes the ballot. All the excitement almost made us forget about that English Only ordinance that Councilman Crafton managed work onto the ballot in January’s special election, which will only set us back about $350,000. We say, add it to the councilman’s tab.
  • Big accident on 65. You might have been one of the lucky folks who got stuck in traffic on I-65 yesterday evening due to a 14-car pile-up at rush hour in Sumner County. None of the injuries were serious, but they weren’t able to clear the wreck until after 9pm.
  • Bits & pieces. David Kernell has been indicted for hacking into Sarah Palin’s email a few weeks ago and is looking at some jail time and a hefty fine if found guilty … Two Tennessee National Guard units will soon be deployed to the Middle East … The stock market might be melting down again today, or maybe not.
