Happy Hour: Bees!

  • A giant swarm of bees took over Trail West downtown this morning at 3rd and Broadway, and they’re still trying to figure out how to get rid of them. The photos make it look like something out of a creepy Hitchcock film or something. We’ll be steering clear. [WKRN]
  • We’re just hearing news that Yazoo, ever a Nashvillest favorite, has pretty much outgrown their current brewery on the north side of downtown. They’re looking at moving to a bigger neighborhood like West End or the Gulch, which would require the city to rezone for them. The process is already moving, though, so we’re hopeful. [City Paper]
  • The Predators drama is heating up with the suspension of forward Alexander Radulov, who’s decided he likes playing in Russia better and doesn’t feel like coming back to Nashville. We’re not sure what to think about that. [WTVF]
  • Remember back in August with Sen. Rosalind Kurita beat out her opponent by 19 votes? The Tennessee Democratic Party will finally be deciding what to do about that. [WSMV]

  • Crazy how I hear the news about Yazoo potentially moving only now, since I'm a regular there every week. Then again, maybe Linus and his crew don't want to scare off his growler toting patrons with the thought of a move. I absolutely love the current location, though. Nothing like sharing a Pale Ale in the semi-decaying Marathon building. Definitely a unique place to grab a pint. Hope they don't change too much! :-)
  • Matt, Yazoo has some words of their own to say about the moving info.

Pretty much the same thing as the reports from other papers, but nice to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.
  • Thanks, Morgan. I actually have Linus's blog linked to my blog, and went directly to that after reading it here. :-)

Sux that they might leave, cause the Marathon building has a lot of character that seems to match the ole Yazoo mentality. Either way, I'll support them, though, because I love their beer and the place has become a great gathering point for the many friends I've made there.
