Good morning, Nashville. Whether we’re ready for summer or not, it’ll be making its way into town today and bringing some 80-degree weather along with it. And storms, because it wouldn’t be Middle Tennessee without them. Meanwhile, Mayor Dean is prepping for the annual State of Metro address he’s going to give in a few minutes at 10am out in front of that shiny new bus terminal, Music City Central. Though it’s always informative, it’s also super boring so you can skip it and catch the highlights right here at Nashvillest later on today… unless you’re masochistic enough to watch the livestream over at News Channel 5.

• Stimulus for homeless kids. More stimulus funding is coming down the pipes to help provide school supplies, transportation, supplemental instruction, and social services for more than 1,400 homeless kids in Metro Schools.
• Drunk drivers take note. We really could’ve sworn that it was already illegal to have open alcohol containers in your car, but apparently it isn’t, and it won’t be illegal any time soon because the Tennessee House just shot down the bill.
• Bits & pieces. In hopes of not going bankrupt, GM may just shut down most of its plants for 9 weeks … Governor Phil doesn’t think it’s a good idea to do away with the Ethics Commission, which basically exists to keep our state government honest … Yes, Al Gore really did compare climate change to the Battle of Gettysburg … Sen. Roy Herron is starting to make some preparations for his run for governor in 2010.
