Good morning, Nashville. Hopefully your grills are good and ready to ring in the unofficial start of summer. But watch out for the lightning, since Nashville WX is warning us about some nasty storms that may be edging their way into our Memorial Day plans. • Working for a living. Good news on the job front. Nearly 40 big companies are thinking about building or relocating corporate offices to Nashville, which could bring thousands of jobs to the Middle Tennessee region. Just probably not in time to accommodate the 2,000 state employees who are about to be laid off.
• Thrills and spills. Over the weekend, Lipscomb’s baseball team won the Atlantic Sun tournament in 15 innings to earn themselves a spot in the NCAA tournament. Vandy, on the other hand, was eliminated from the Southeastern Conference after a well-fought 8-7 loss to Ole Miss.
• Bits & pieces. Immigration status won’t be affecting marriage rights anymore in Davidson Co. … Bald eagle sighting at Radnor Lake … Rutherford Co. apparently has a “wheel tax” where they tax the wheels on your car, and now they want to raise it … The guys in Colombia, TN who burned down that mosque a few months ago are set to go to trial in September … We may see $5 gas by Labor Day, which is when Nashvillest stops driving.
