Good morning, Nashville. As of July 1, we’ll be shelling out just a little bit more for our traffic tickets than we used to. Strapped for cash (who isn’t?), the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be be requiring municipalities to tack on an additional $13.75 fee per violation when we pay our tickets before the court or compliance date. And yes, that fee applies to every individual violation on the citation up to five. The TBI plans on using the extra cash to fund their crime labs since next year’s budget was significantly reduced.
- Get it together, Kenny. Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt was arrested again, this time for trying to resist police while they were trying to arrest him for something else. This happened Wednesday night–just one day after he pleaded guilty to careless driving charges.
- Lemons, meet lemonade. Some enterprising Nashvillians have been taking to the internet to rent out their homes to country music fans attending CMApocalypse after local hotels started filling up.
- They don’t call us Music City for nothing. The Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau launched a fancy new iPhone app for finding live music around the city. You can pick it up for free in the app store and Android users can expect to see it sometime this summer.
- Bits & pieces. Don’t forget to check out the clouded leopard cubs at the Nashville Zoo this weekend! … Nashville police are saying we could be experiencing a heroin boom in the area … It could finally cool down a bit (to 90 degrees?) but our storm chances are also increasing a bit … Franklin installed a new tornado siren in Cool Springs; Westhaven, you’re up next … Congratulations, Tennessee! We’ve had our 14th straight month of increased sales tax collections.
