• Tennessee’s ACLU has threatened to take the state to court over the Arizona-like immigration reform bill proposed by Sen. Bill Ketron. The bill would allow both state and local law enforcement to ask for documents from any suspected illegal immigrants proving that they are in the country legally. The ACLU is concerned it would promote racial profiling. [WPLN]
• New lethal injection procedures requiring the warden to verify the inmate’s unconsciousness were approved by a Davidson County court yesterday. Four inmates are currently awaiting execution in Tennessee pending the approval of the new procedures, but opposing attorneys are expected to appeal to a higher court. [WPLN]
• Preds goalie Pekka Rinne had a pretty stellar night last night, setting a new career high of 48 saves. Unfortunately the Preds still lost 2-1 after the Sharks scored the winning goal with just 67 seconds left in the game. [City Paper]
• Some sneezing elephants are being blamed for a human tuberculosis outbreak at the Hohenwald Elephant Sanctuary. [WTVF]
• MTSU students had another shooting scare yesterday, though this time it occurred at a nearby apartment complex. One person was injured and school officials don’t believe the shooter posed any threat to students. [Tennessean]
• Gas prices are higher than they’ve been in 28 months, according to AAA. [WTVF]
