- The weather over the next day or so is going to be a little rough with ice and potential flooding in the mid-state. Some schools to our northwest have preemptively canceled classes.
- Metro Council voted Tuesday night to launch a six month pilot program throughout Nashville for license plate readers after months of intense debate around the program.
- A study by Florida Atlantic University says Nashville is the 18th most overvalued metro in the country, with homebuyers overpaying by an average of $113,000.
- The owner of HatWrks has sued one of her brand suppliers, alleging unfair trade after the company refused to sell her hats following her offensive social most posts about vaccines and mask mandates. She, like many of us, wants a million bucks.
- The trial got underway this week for Travis Reinking, the shooter accused of killing four patrons at a Waffle House in 2018, after he entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. If convicted, he faces a sentence of life in prison without parole.
- Homeowners and developers continue to push back against the city’s ordinance that requires the owner to foot the bill for new sidewalks if one is not already fronting the property, leading to zig-zagging walkways. The group is appealing a ruling that sided with Metro earlier.
- A Middle Tennessee radio personality says that (likely former) Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has purchased property in Rutherford County and is “open” to playing for the Titans. This sounds like the whole Peyton Manning nonsense all over again.
- The Nashville Predators knocked off the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 at home Tuesday night. The Preds are off for the All Star break, returning next Wednesday on the road to face the Dallas Stars.
- Preds goaltender Juuse Saros picked up his 100th win in the game, becoming one of only three in franchise history to hit that mark. He’s heading to the All Star game.
- Governor Bill Lee’s proposed budget will include a $250 million payment to Tennessee State University, representing about half of the money the university has been shortchanged over five decades according to reports.
- There are a few more bills to watch in the state legislature related to marijuana (recreational or medical).
- A woman moving from California to Nashville had her rental van stolen from the apartment complex before she even had a chance to unload. The van was later recovered and a suspect arrested, but her belongings were no longer with it.
- Advocates honored the 38 victims who died last year after being struck by automobiles while walking and biking in Nashville. There have already been six pedestrian deaths so far this year, including one earlier this week on Nolensville Pike when a truck struck a cyclist.
- The Nashville Humane Association released its 2021 report, saying that 3,400 shelter pets were placed into loving homes last year.
