- Nashville’s pharmacies are staying busy administering COVID-19 booster shots to those that want them, regardless of which vaccine brand they originally received.
- Owners of the city’s various party buses, hot tubs and tractors organized a parade Friday to protest Metro Nashville’s new regulations prohibiting alcohol on open air vehicles starting next month. The photos from the event show just how many of the vehicles roam Broadway.
- Tennessee lawmakers used a special session to deem local school board elections as partisan, meaning that candidates would be required to indicated party affiliation (and participate in primaries). Nashville’s elections will be held next year.
- Billionaire Carl Icahn has sold PSC Metals, the owners of the downtown metal scrapyard that has vexed a few mayoral administrations trying to get rid of it for development, but he did not the property itself.
- A local artist dedicated a painting now on display at the Parthenon to a North Nashville community advocate that helped fix houses that the city was threatening to condemn before his death led to his own home meeting the same fate.
- Leaders of the group seeking to clear out the homeless encampment at Bellevue’s Brookmeade Park are proposing the city spend money to create “pods” for the homeless, saying those would be safer alternative. There are 80 people said to be living in the park.
- The head of the Office of Emergency Management has been named the interim director of the Homeless Impact Division, which recently had its director resign after four years on the job.
- For the millions of Americans with colorblindness, Radnor Lake State Park has installed a viewing station to with specialized lenses to allow them to take in the fall colors in all their splendor. It follows a similar program in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
- A new storefront at the Nashville International Airport will feature more than 40 black-owned vendors in a partnership with the Tennessee Tribune newspaper.
- A 29 year-old man from Gallatin was charged with DUI after his truck rammed into the back of Metro Nashville Police car on I-40 early Sunday morning. The officer was not seriously injured.
- The Grand Old Opry celebrated its 5,000th Saturday night broadcast this weekend with country music stars from many eras on hand to mark the ocassion.
- A group called ‘Out of the Darkness’ hosted a suicide prevention walk at Two Rivers Park in Donelson Saturday morning, aiming to raise awareness of the ninth leading cause of death among Tennesseans and the third leading cause of death of people between 10 and 24.
- Police agencies are giving presentations in support of license plate reader technology as the Metro Council prepares to take up a vote on a measure that would expand its use throughout Davidson County. Proponents say the readers have solved crimes and found missing persons faster, while privacy advocates say it is inappropriate mass surveillance.
- The Greater Nashville Technology Council has launched a marketing campaign aiming to lure tech workers to Nashville, citing that despite the area’s growing talent pool it still lags well behind most cities.
- The Tennessee Titans (6-2) picked up a 34-31 road win in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts (3-5) to take a firm hold on the AFC South. The Titans travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams (7-1) next Sunday.
- The Nashville Predators (4-4-0) picked up their third straight win in a 3-2 shootout contest against the New York Islanders (3-2-2) at home Saturday afternoon. The team begins their western Canada road swing against the Calagary Flames (6-1-1) tomorrow night and the Edmonton Oilers (6-1-0) on Wednesday.
- Terry Crisp has announced he is retiring from his game presentation duties at the end of the Predators season, following a long career as the franchise’s first on-air color analyst after two NHL coaching jobs (including a Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames) and a 14 year playing career.

- Nashville SC (12-4-17) is still battling for playoff position after a 1-1 draw against Orlando City (12-9-12) Sunday, with Orlando’s late go-ahead goal wiped off by replay officials. Nashville SC closes out the regular season hosting the New York Red Bulls (13-12-7).
- A breakfast restaurant in Edgehill Villlage opened last week, appropriately named Egghill and features two veteran chefs overseeing the business.
- Amazon will endow a computer science professorship at Tennessee State University in an effort to train students on job skills necessary to work for the company.
- The Nashville Zoo welcomed its first-ever female aardvark, Kanranga, that is particularly fond of avocados.
