- A loose barge struck the James Robertson Bridge downtown Friday night, briefly closing it and the Woodland Street bridge for inspections. No serious damage was reported.
- A new East Nashville hotel in a converted church pledges its profits to help fight homelessness in Nashville.
- A man who spent 11 years in jail for a murder he did not commit was formally cleared by a judge this past Wednesday. He had plead guilty as part of a plea bargain in what wound up being a botched case by prosecutors.
- Nashville is doing much better on recycling items correctly, but 28 percent of material sent for processing winds up in a landfill, with plastic bags being the biggest culprit.
- The Tennessee Titans picked up 34-3 preseason win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The team closes out the preseason next Saturday at home against the Chicago Bears.

- Former Titans General Manager Floyd Reese has died after lengthy fight with cancer his family said Saturday. Reese was 73.

- Runners opened a newly renovated runway at Nashville International Airport Saturday morning for a 5K race, only a few hours before it went into service for air traffic.
