- A Nashville judge ruled that the Davidson County Election Commission erred by allowing a sweeping referendum that would have changed several facets of city government preceding a July 27th vote, effectively canceling that election. The judge said there were several fatal aspects of the petition, including that it would violate the State Constitution.
- There are 19 cases of the delta variant of COVID-19 confirmed in Tennessee, but none have been found in Davidson County yet. The variant is known for its higher transmissibility, but is still responding to the current vaccines.
- First Lady Dr. Jill Biden was in Nashville at a pop-up vaccine clinic to promote everyone getting their shot, noting that Tennessee lags the rest of the nation despite ample supply.
- A city street will be named for the late Mark Middleton’s drag queen’s persona Bianca Paige, commemorating his efforts to raise more than $1 million for HIV and AIDS patients. The dedication ceremony is this Saturday.
- A Nashville ICU nurse suffered a broken nose and jaw following a road rage incident in East Nashville.
- Country artist Garth Brooks will play a show July 31 at Nissan Stadium, his first at that venue. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
- Nashville SC battled back from a 2-1 deficit against Toronto FC to win 3-2 at Nissan Stadium last night. They host CF Montréal Saturday at Nissan Stadium.
- Vanderbilt University avoided elimination last night on a wild pitch with a 7-6 win over Stanford. Vandy faces North Carolina State for a rematch on Friday.
- The median home price for sale in Nashville is now $380,000 according to local realtors, with prices up 20 percent and inventory down by about 50 percent. Properties are only listed for about 12 days before going under contract.
- If you were hoping to score some fireworks for the Fourth of July, be warned that prices will be much higher thanks to constrained supply because of global shipping delays.
