- Metro Nashville has launched a second incentive program called “Shots on Goal” to get folks to take the COVID-19 vaccine, this time offering a coupon booklet worth about $100 from participating retailers during the month of June. Their first promotion was free coffee or beer.
- City leaders are confident in Nashville’s tourism economy making a full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Most downtown businesses have reopened at full capacity for shows seven nights a week.
- Tennessee Democrats say that only three percent of the 250,000 jobs listed on the Jobs4TN website pay above $20,000 annually, which is below the federal poverty line. The governor’s administration has touted the site as a way reduce unemployment.
- More than 10,500 Nashville property owners contested their appraisals through an informal process the city reported last week, with a little over half of them leading to a decreased appraisal. Many were surprised with a substantial increase in the appraised value, which is used to calculate property tax.
- American Airlines plans to add a non-stop service to Tampa, Florida this fall the airport announced last week. Both Spirit and Southwest currently provide flights to Tampa.
- South Nashville will be gaining a new public park after a groundbreaking ceremony over the weekend kicked off a multi-phase development process. It will add 622 acres of green space to the city.
- Bar namesake Kid Rock is again in headlines after being recorded using a homophobic slur, halfheartedly apologizing, and then using it againĀ at another show. No word on if he will serve as Grand Marshall of the Nashville Christmas Parade again.
- MNPD would like to remind you to please secure your guns in your home and not in your car, with 22 weapons stolen in the last week alone. Many of the stolen weapons are later found to be involved in violent crime.
- The Metro School Board voiced its displeasure at a request from the state to allow about 50 students in the charter school program attend summer school with MNPS. The district says the additional students will add about $62,500 to the cost of the program.
- Church Street Park, once destined to be the site of a skyscraper, has reopened with new programming and upgrades. The park had been closed to the public for construction.
- North Nashville residents hosted a”Norf Wall Fest” block party this past weekend to celebrate the areas arts culture and community.
- East Nashville venue The 5 Spot has reopened for the first time since the the tornados and start of the pandemic in March of 2020. The operators say they will continue to broadcast some shows online.
- A Nashville-area home-buyer is said to have paid $1 million for the property in the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, said to be the largest such transaction in the state. Bitcoin’s value compared to the US Dollar has been very volatile of late, making such a transaction exceptionally risky for the seller.

- Local restaurant Desano Pizza is taking a unique approach to getting pets adopted, this time by included a flyer of an adoptable pets with every pizza.
