Good morning, Nashville. We feel like a broken record these days, but did you hear that it’s supposed to snow this afternoon? We should see our first flurries around 2PM and everyone is calling for about 1-2 inches. Though TDOT is already out prepping the roads with what little salt they have left, it could make for a slippery commute so be sure to brush up on your icy driving skills. Tomorrow’s temperatures probably won’t get out of the 20s, so we don’t anticipate much melting.
- SUVs are good for something. Metro Police will be trying out a new tactic to nab those texting-while-driving offenders. By sitting around in unmarked SUVs, they’re hoping to be up higher than us so they can peer down into our cars and see if we’re texting. The only logical solution for this is driving a car that’s taller than an SUV. Or maybe just stop texting.
- Rebuilding the levee. Gaylord is currently trying to fix the levee that failed during the flood, resulting in a staggering amount of flood damage to the Opryland Hotel, Grand Ole Opry and Opry Mills. They don’t have any solid plans to raise the levee, but they are discussing the option with the Army Corps of Engineers.
- Bits & pieces. Some theorize that the number of Titans in the Pro Bowl proves they there is some talent in there somewhere … We might actually be getting that new Federal Courthouse we’ve been talking about since 1992 … Less people are reportedly getting bitten by dogs in Davidson County, so that’s a plus … Governor Haslam ordered a 45-day freeze on any new state regulations while his administration reviews the old ones … Here is a list of intersections at which you are most likely to get into an accident.
