Good morning, Nashville. Change is coming to the downtown branch of the Nashville Public Library in February. For some reason they’ve decided that opening a “Teen Wing” with a Wii and four giant plasma TVs in the middle of a library is a good idea. They say they’re doing it to encourage teens to start using the library (but seriously, haven’t these people ever heard of the internet!?) and it’ll be closed in with four walls to contain all the noise. Not to be raining on anyone’s parade or anything, but we sort of have to wonder how many Voluntary Metro Employee Furloughs it’s going to take to fund this thing. Just sayin’.
- Bob that what? We never thought we’d see the day with Jessica Simpson would be opening for a Rascal Flatts tour, but that day has arrived. The Bob That Head tour includes 20 cities and kicked off on Thursday.
- Mumpower fail. Somehow, a copy of state Rep. Jason Mumpower’s victory speech for the Speaker Of The House gig he didn’t ever get is floating around on the internet, making the entire situation even more super-messed-up-but-pretty-funny than it already is.
- Bits & pieces. Someone accidentally (we think) donated a $6000 painting to Goodwill, which they’re now auctioning off on Ebay … Pro-life advocates gathered at the Bicentennial Mall over the weekend to rally support for the removal of protection for abortions under the Tennessee state law … Electric cars have hit Middle Tennessee … The TVA is stepping up the pace of the ash cleanup in Kingston.
