Nashville Newcomers: Fleur de Lis Flavors Throws New Orleans Snowballs At Us

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of moseying on down to the Nashville Farmer’s Market to a brand new New Orleans-style Snowball shop, Fleur de Lis Flavors (which, in case you’re wondering, means “flower of the lily”). We remember eating snowballs before moving to Tennessee, and were excited to hear that we could finally get them here.

If you’ve never been lucky enough to taste a snowball, do us a favor and please don’t confuse it with a snowcone. Snowballs are miles above and beyond those ballpark snowcones we remember from childhood! Snowballs are made from shaved ice, and don’t even think about slopping grape, cherry, orange or lime flavoring on the top. At Fleur de Lis, we tried flavors like Wedding Cake, Tiger’s Blood, Strawberry Cheesecake and Dreamsicle. And they were all delicious. And we want more. Right now.

Fleur de Lis Flavors also makes fresh-squeezed lemonade, hot roasted nuts and chocolate covered frozen bananas, making them a very welcome addition to the Farmer’s Market. So stop by Fleur de Lis Flavors this weekend. Because right about now, a snowball is sounding really good.

    Are you guys from Louisiana?

In New Orleans, Plum St. Snoball was the place to go.

I'm pumped to see this in Nashville though. I actually met the nice people who run this place a few months back. The snowballs are just like home.

Nope, Virginia! But we had a New Orleans snowball place, Tiger's Blood and all.

The company I work for sells Snowie shaved ice machines and ten different flavors (including Tiger's Blood) that you can mix and match to create other cool combinations. If I had to start a side business in a warmer area of the country, this would be a top candidate.
