Chuy’s Midtown Location Opens Tomorrow! [Burrito Time Is Our Favorite Time]
Ever since Nashville’s first Chuy’s opened in Cool Springs back in 2009, we haven’t been able to shake our craving for that weirdly addictive creamy jalapeño sauce that hits us every single week. Oh, and the margaritas! And the burritos! And the Elvis shrine! And… and… ! Lucky for us, Chuy’s has moved into midtown, swinging wide its Texas-sized doors tomorrow and welcoming the masses. Just follow your nose (or a map) to 19th and Broadway and probably prepare to wait a while, as every Texan transplant within a 300-mile radius will probably be pouring into the place at once. If the other two Nashville Chuy’s are any indication, the happiest of happy hours will happen Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 PM with margarita and beer specials and, best of all, a free nacho bar. Check out the menu ahead of time and plan your strategy! And save us some creamy jalapeño sauce, will ya?
Chuy’s Midtown location opens Tuesday, October 11 at 19th and Broadway. 11am-10:30pm Sunday -Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday-Saturday.

The Catbird Seat, Unique Dining Above The Patterson House, Opens October 12
Have you ever wondered what would happen if the superbly creative team behind The Patterson House took their fresh, hand-crafted approach to cocktails and applied it to food? We have, and we’re about to find out. The Catbird Seat, located above The Patterson House at 1711 Division Street, opens on Wednesday, October 12. The Catbird Seat will accommodate just 30 diners a night at a large, U-shaped table with their critically-acclaimed chefs at the center, serving each diner a seven-course meal from seasonal, local (like… from the backyard local) ingredients. The unique dining experience will set you back $100 per person plus tax and a tip (and an extra $30 a person for drink pairings). Reservations have been open for a few weeks now, but to our surprise there were still a few spots open in October when we checked.
Checking out The Catbird Seat in the next few weeks? We’d love to hear from you in the comments, because let’s face it – our pockets aren’t exactly padded with that kind of cash. Still, we’re intrigued.
The Catbird Seat opens Wednesday, October 12 at 1711 Division Street. Reservations required.

Bright & Early: Undead & Unrest Edition
Good morning, Nashville. If you ran into roadblocks or saw a helicopter circling very, very low over downtown Nashville yesterday afternoon, don’t worry! Turns out that all of the hullabaloo was just downtown’s Fifth Third bank hanging their enormous new energy-saving sign. In other news this morning:
- Same old, same old. Residents of The Gulch would like us to know that there is no convenience and/or grocery store within walking distance. Hm, sounds familiar. The Turnip Truck fills the grocery void, but leaves residents without a place to purchase their motor oil, over the counter drugs and chewing gum.
- Occupied. “Occupy Nashville” protesters are doing just that – about 35 people camped out in Legislative Plaza this weekend in support of the widespread “Occupy Wall Street” protests happening in dozens of major cities. Another protest is scheduled for today (Monday) at 4:30pm.
- Bocephus strikes back. Hank Williams Jr. has rushed into the studio to cut “I’ll Keep My…” in response to last week’s uproar about his appearance on Fox & Friends and his subsequent parting of ways with ESPN’s Monday Night Football. He calls out Fox & Friends, ESPN, the United Socialist States of America and those pesky “gotcha games” in the song, which we cannot wait to hear. Oh, and if you need a “Hank Jr. for President” t-shirt, he’s got you covered.
- No win for Titans. The Steelers triumphed over the Titans yesterday in Pittsburgh, 33-17.
- Bits & pieces. Another year, another Nashville Zombie Walk. Always delightful! … Oktoberfest this weekend was a smashing success, and for once it wasn’t 100 degrees … 22-year-old Brentwood native Katie Davis moved to Uganda five years ago as a fresh high school grad, and is now raising 13 Ugandan orphans … 500 people turned out for Saturday’s “We Stand With Gibson” rally.

Bright & Early: Arts And Weapons Edition
Good morning, Nashville. Your tour of this morning’s headlines:
- Following the Attorney General’s opinion on the whole Amazon sales tax debacle, Amazon has agreed to build the two planned distribution centers in Tennessee and also start collecting sales tax in 2014. The new facilities are expected to create around 2,000 jobs. [WKRN]
- The Occupy Wallstreet movement swept through Nashville yesterday as hundreds of protesters headed to Legislative Plaza and other spots around town to speak out against corporate greed, bailouts and many other things. [Tennessean]
- Sunny and warm this weekend! Enjoy it while you can. [Nashville WX]
- Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could go to one place to get our emissions tested and renew our registrations? This is happening. [WKRN]
- So it could be a while before LaVergne gets those tornado sirens they’ve been talking about. They almost took the plunge, but plans were pushed back because tornado sirens are expensive. [WKRN]

Bright & Early: Flulapalooza Edition
Good morning, Nashville. A quick tour of the headlines this morning:
- Belmont University’s brand new School of Law scored a big hire in former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Gonzales will come in as the Doyle Rogers Distinguished Chair of Law on January 2. [Tennessean]
- Peanut lovers, we have some bad news for you: Texas peanut crops are down 48% this year due to drought, which means we might start seeing higher prices and peanut shortages here in Tennessee. [Nashville WX]
- But pumpkin lovers, we have some good news for you: You live in the best state for pumpkins, at least according to Tennessee state officials. [WKRN]
- Metro Councilman Bruce Stanley would like to take the ever-controversial fairgrounds and develop a NASCAR and country music themed amusement park. Just what we’ve always wanted! Stanley will introduce the ordinance at tonight’s council meeting. [WKRN]
- You may have noticed that Hank Williams Jr.’s classic Monday Night Football song was missing last night. This is because in a Monday-morning interview with Fox & Friends, Bocephus dropped an analogy that included a reference to Hitler while discussing President Obama, causing ESPN to pull his song from last night’s broadcast. [WKRN]
- Germantown residents are not pleased about the proposal to move their fire station 1.2 miles further away. [WTVF]
- Ten Metro schools are piloting a program for healthier school lunches by introducing a salad bar, fresh fruits and vegetables and more homemade vs. prepackaged meals for students. [WTVF]
- Flulapalooza, anyone? Vanderbilt will be going for the Guinness World Record for flu vaccinations on October 12, aiming to vaccinate 8,000 students, faculty and staff within an 8 hour period. Godspeed, Vanderbilt. [Tennessean]

Bright & Early: Sweater Time! Edition
Good morning, Nashville. Your tour of the headlines on this fine fall Monday morning:
- Fall has arrived! We busted out the sweaters and jackets last night as temperatures dipped into the thirties. Things will warm up a bit this week, but we have a feeling our favorite season is sticking around for a little while. [Nashville WX]
- The Titans had another good weekend on the field, sprinting past the browns 31-13 yesterday. However, we said a very sad goodbye to former offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger who passed away from cancer on Friday. Coach Dinger was with the Titans from 2000-2010 and will be greatly missed. [WTVF]
- An estimated crowd of 500 turned out for Nashville’s SlutWalk to raise awareness about sexual violence. [Tennessean]
- The inaugural Battle of the Food Trucks was a smash hit yesterday at Greer Stadium and raised more than $12,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank. We’d like to extend a special congratulations to Riffs Fine Street Foods for taking home the prize for Best Overall Food Truck! (Great, now we’re craving jerk chicken.) [WKRN]
- The Preds are looking good this year in the preseason! We’re getting our fang fingers ready for the home opener on October 13th. [City Paper]
