Happy Hour: On The Up And Up
- For the sixth month in a row, the TVA is raising their rates and sending us noticeably higher electric bills. [WTVF]
- Lots of folks were asking about the fire today in North Nashville that was visible from parts of downtown. Good news: It was just an abandoned factory and no one was hurt. [WTVF]

Bright & Early: Christmas In July Edition
Good morning, Nashville. Metro Councilwoman Karen Bennett is concerned that chopping down a city Christmas tree every year might not be the best way to go green. She’d rather Metro plant an evergreen tree in the public square to hang out year-round and be spruced up for the holidays, and she’s proposed a resolution asking them to do just that. On a semi-related note, remember the time everyone thought Tennessee’s Christmas tree was ugly and then it blew over and broke, and all of Nashville rejoiced?
- Fort Nashborough moving? With the Riverfront Adventure Play Park construction starting up soon, many folks are wondering what’s going to happen to the historic Fort Nashborough, which is sort of in the way. It may or may not be moving, but if it is, it won’t be going far. Officials say that it might actually end up being closer to its original location that it is now.
- Luminous? Effulgent? Well-lit? There are a lot of ways we could describe John Rich, but we’re not sure that “sensitive to the interests of his neighbors” is one of them.
- Bits & pieces. Thanks to some great business growth, our state has seen a net increase of 260,000 people since 2001 … Some folks actually marched for peace in Murfreesboro in response to all the hoopla about the new mosque … Here’s some fun tidbits for the conspiracy theorists among us … Mt. Juliet will be breaking ground on their new greenway on Thursday.
