Good morning, Nashville. So how about that weather this weekend? Yesterday’s high of 77 actually broke the coolest-day-in-July record of 79 degrees set in 1897. Sunday morning’s low of 57 tied the record low set in 1979. We’re not exactly sure what’s going on with this, but we hope it sticks around for a few more days. We’re also not exactly sure what’s going on with WKRN’s weather guy, but we hope that sticks around for a few more days too because we appreciate the LOLs.
- Cute baby animals. With all of the chilly weather, it seems appropriate that the Tennessee Aquarium would be welcoming a new baby penguin, which might actually be worth the trip to Chattanooga to see. And because its parents’ names are Bug and Big T.
- Yes, please! Thanks to a new law that allows micro-distilleries to operate in Tennessee, we might be getting our very own micro-distillery in the Gulch in the next few months which will likely provide some locally distilled rum, vodka, absinthe, and “award-winning gin.”
- Bits & pieces. Murfreesboro, Brentwood, Williamson County, Clarksville, and Goodlettsville have all opted out of the state law that would allow guns in parks. Nashville will be considering the issue on Tuesday … Not that any of us could afford to shop there, but Coach will be moving into the Cool Springs Galleria in the spring … SWAT teams were able to wrap up a five-hour standoff with a peaceful arrest at a hotel on Murfreesboro Road last night.
