Happy Hour: You Win Some, You Lose Some

  • In the excitement of John Rich and CMApocalypse, we almost forgot to mention that the Metro Council approved the land purchase for the new convention center. Bye bye, Rocketown :(. [WKRN]
  • The Tennessee House voted to overturn Governor Phil’s veto on the Guns in Bars bill, but not before the bill’s sponsor blamed the media for swaying the governor’s decision by, um, calling it the Guns in Bars bill. [WSMV & WKRN]
  • Finally, someone important is acknowledging that the TVA ash spill might end up costing us some money on our utility bills down the road, except rather than blaming the TVA for spilling toxic sludge in the first place, Rep. John Duncan blames the folks who are suing the TVA for destroying their homes and giving them asthma and all that. [Tennessean]
  • Also, as it turns out, our state is about $100 million in the hole. [In Session]

SHAME ON OUR HOUSE & SENATE!!!!! regarding guns in bars. Would any of you be comfortable being in a place that ALLOWS the carrying of a weapon or more to the point if one of your loved ones was in that place.?? I think not. Why don't you go a step furture and just pass a bill that allows all of us to bear arms everywhere- on our city streeets, businesses and oh yeah what about churches too? After all you certainly want to be sure the folks that support this bill are happy. To try to justify your actions you say "well, people who have a weapon on them will not be allowed to drink. WHAT A LOAD OF BULL IS THAT? Are we all going be body searched at the door and what if some hot head looses his cool and just shots at something or somebody and perhaps killing innocent bystanders. The pending bill that allows guns in parks is BEYOND REASON so again SHAME ON YOU AND MANY CUDOS TO OUR VERY WISE GOV for using the veto AND OUR POLICE for supporting his veto. DOESN"T THAT TELL YOU THIS WAS NOT A WISE MOVE ON YOUR PART?? PROBABLY NOT.
  • I thought Rcktwn was just going to move if the Convention Center proposal was approved.

Oh well, at least maybe soon I can protect my 40oz with my .40!
