Happy Hour: In Which We Tighten Our Belts

  • Governor Phil, for whom we have a new-found respect after learning that he doesn’t accept a salary, will be severely scaling back his holiday party since Tennessee’s economy (along with the other 49 states) is in pretty dire straits. [Tennessean]
  • Not all the Titans are celebrating this week–defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is looking at a 30-day probation sentence for doing 100+ mph on I-65. If he can’t keep himself straight during that time, he’ll be heading to jail. [WSMV]
  • The Hillsboro High School senior that the Vols have been eyeballing has officially committed to UT, making the first pick of new coach Lane Kiffin. [Tennessean]
  • We only hope that when we’re 95, we can still slug full-grown men… Just maybe not the one who’s carrying us out of a burning house. [WSMV]

Seriously, as a serial speeder, I believe 100 is the new 50. At least I want it to be so.
