Bright & Early: At Least Someone’s Loaded Edition

Good morning, Nashville. It’s not every day that we get to hear a story like this one. 75 year old Murfreesboro resident Billie Watts was dining at her local Cracker Barrel last Thursday when she found a bag full of money. Almost $100,000, to be exact. She did the right thing and reported the find, and when the money was claimed, she even declined a reward. Awww!
- To race or not to race. The fate of the Music City Motorplex will be decided this week. The operator’s 5-year lease is up on December 31.
- The giving spirit. An anonymous donor has bestowed 20 million dollars upon Vanderbilt University for need-based student scholarships. Awww!
- Bits & pieces. Franklin-based Big Idea, Inc. (think Veggie Tales) is cutting 1/3 of their staff … The Supreme Court will not hear the English Only appeal, which means that we’re definitely voting on January 22 … A rash of burglaries in Franklin are targeting the Hispanic community, but police say the bright side is that they’re gaining their trust (awww?).
