Bright & Early: Decisions, Decisions! Edition

Good morning, Nashville. We woke up  to the news that city officials have FINALLY decided on a Christmas tree for us, which they’ll (and by “they” we mean our BFFs at NES) be putting up in the Public Square on December 5th. Apparently it’s been a rough year for the Christmas tree farms due to the drought that produced enough ugly trees that officials were worried they wouldn’t be able to find a cute one. We’re glad to know that the folks at Metro Parks & Recreation take their jobs so seriously. Can’t wait to see it!

  • Deadrick gets prettified. Speaking of trees getting cut down and stuff (tree carcasses, as it were)–you can now take a look at the renderings for what Deadrick Street is going to look like once they finish demolishing it and rebuilding it. Deadrick was once one of the scarier streets in Nashville when it doubled as the bus depot, but now that they’ve shipped all of the homeless people out built a new station, they want it to look nice.
  • Nashville gets famous. When you’re watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade this year, you might see some familiar faces. A few lucky (and talented!) Nashvillians from LaVergne High School will be gracing the streets of New York this year as a part of the Great American Marching Band.
  • Bits & pieces. Believe it or not, the school revenue situation might actually get worse … Four people were taken to the hospital with stab wounds after a bar fight on Dickerson Pike … Vandy attributes Saturday’s loss to Tennessee to a lack of emotion? … BNA has supposedly reduced waits.
