Bright & Early: Could Be Worse? Edition

Good morning, Nashville. We think it’s safe to say that Preds captain Jason Arnott is having kind of a rough year. After a hefty collision in the first period of last night’s game, he had to be carted off the ice on a backboard to be checked out at the Vandy Medical Center. This comes only about a month after his Brentwood house burned down. The good news is, he was well enough to make it back to the arena before the game was even over. The bad news is, the Preds still lost.

  • Jackpot? The IRS still owes us–the fine citizens of Tennessee–upwards of about $5 million. They’ve published a 151-page list of names broken down by county, so if you find your name on there, please go collect your check!
  • It’s that time again. Between the cold weather and the crappy economy, Nashville’s homeless shelters are feeling the hurt. If your church would be up for hosting Room In The Inn, you can find more info on that here. If you’re interested in individual opportunities, they need that too.
  • Bits & pieces. Early voting for Davidson County’s English Only special election begins January 2nd … PSA: Miley Cyrus is NOT DEAD … This time, it was the officer caught speeding … MTSU students are understandably kind of freaked out by the rash of shootings and terrorist activity on campus.

  • You forgot that he also sat out a few games earlier this year and is still recovering from a broken finger.

At least he's on the All-Star Ballot (vote.nhl.com)
  • Ah, wow. I'd forgotten about that. Not exactly a banner year, eh?
  • That's the amazing part, he's still managing to be one of the team leaders in points
  • I voted for him!

A cop speeding? Perish the thought! I don't think I've ever seen a police officer drive the posted speed limit, since the boys in blue, being the law, are obviously themselves above it. And what can we do? If we attempt a citizen's arrest, we get arrested for use of force on/harassing an officer. Kudos to this video vigilante on calling out one of "the finest". Maybe News Channel 5's Phil Williams should do an exposé on that very issue.
