Good morning, Nashville. There was a huge stir when Metro Schools decided to start making their kids wear school uniforms. But now that the program has been in place for a couple of years, its success seems to be inspiring other midstate school systems to give it a go. Earlier this week, Robertson County announced that they were considering the switch and have sent out surveys to parents, faculty, and students to test the waters.
- More new voter machines. Tennessee election officials are getting ready to toss the current voter machines to make way for the new ones they plan to purchase because of a decision by last year’s General Assembly. Despite the fact that they’d just bought $25M worth of machines for the current election, they’ll be requiring a new kind by 2010.
- Counting calories. The public hearing about restaurant menu labeling sounds like it was pretty rough yesterday, drawing a huge turnout of restaurant owners who would be affected by the new regulation. Though the proposal won’t be voted on until February, you can still submit some feedback of your own until December 6th.
- Bits & pieces. Trader Joe’s is open, y’all!! Stop by today for some special deals and some general Trader Joes goodness … Who thought painting a railroad bridge would be such a big deal? … Southwest is adding 5 flights to BNA’s schedule and dropping the one to San Diego.
