Good morning, Nashville. Businesses downtown are resorting to some pretty drastic measures in order to save money and electricity: They’re actually turning off the lights when they leave at night. In the name of good stewardship (and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars), some are even installing timers to shut off the lights at 9pm–so we hope nobody’s planning on working late. The real extremists are setting computers to hibernate after a few minutes of idleness. We’re glad you’re doing your part, Nashville.
- Roma suspects charged. The two guys who allegedly robbed Roma Pizza and murdered one employee are in court today and have both been charged with first degree murder and robbery.
- Thanksgiving travel hell. Book your flights early this year because BNA will be seeing about 2,000 less planes leaving the tarmac this Thanksgiving compared to last year, which is a little more than a 10% reduction. Flights are being cut all over the country due to (what else?) the rising cost of fuel. But we’re still holding out hope for Southwest who’s actually adding flights to meet the high demand because they are all kinds of awesome. We’re just not sure if any of them are passing through of Nashville.
- Bits & pieces. Our voting machines are the same kind of messed-up as West Virginia’s … The Metro Planning Commission is setting up to vote on what could be the biggest Habitat for Humanity development in the country if it passes … Governor Phil is off schmoozing his way around Germany trying to score us some new auto supplier jobs.
