Bright & (Not So) Early: Leave The Charter Alone Edition

Good morning, Nashville. Metro Council seems to be turning into a three-ring circus these days with all the arguing and petitioning and lawsuiting and charter-changing and special-electioning surrounding the English Only initiative. This morning the Tennessean warns us that the “Metro Charter is under siege“  thanks to English Only supporters who want to make it easier for people to make amendments like theirs, so we could all be voting on measures like this every year! Which is just what we need!

  • Cops & robbers. A guy arrested for holding up a Super 8 Motel on Old Hickory Blvd. at gunpoint says he was only doing it to feed and clothe his baby.
  • Keep it down. Downtown clubs may be facing new noise regulations if the council approves the new noise ordinance, which would set the cap at 85 decibels–about as loud as a lawn mower. Which still doesn’t sound too good.
  • Bits & pieces. The Titans are calling for a Code Blue, which means we all need to wear blue to work next Monday before the Indianapolis game … Even the state government hates Comcast … States are lowering requirements for people to be eligible for food stamps.
