Bright & Early: Politics As Usual Edition

Good morning, Nashville. Looks like we’re almost out of the woods with the Great Nashville Gas Crisis of Aught Eight. And after watching Mayor Dean casually shrug off the problem and tell us that we just needed to chill the heck out, we were actually happy to hear what Governor Phil admit that there was, at some point, a “market disruption in supply.

  • Fang fingerrrrrs. The Preds rally yesterday afternoon was sort of a success with the sale of over 10,000 tickets. That was about 7,000 tickets less than they wanted to sell, but who’s counting? Good times were had by all.
  • Debate protest. Finally, a little excitement for the Belmont debate: Green party supporters will be staging a protest around Hillsboro Village led by US Senate candidate Chris Lugo, whose email list we mysteriously discovered we were on a few months ago. They say they’re not going to do anything drastic, but we’re hoping maybe they’ll pull out the Bush masks.
  • Bits & pieces. Lots of Tennessee counties are officially in a drought … A volunteer group raised enough funds to take 100 Middle Tennessee WWII veterans to see the WWII Memorial in Washington DC today … A handicapped Madison woman is slapped with a fine for parking on her own front lawn … More changes in store for Metro schools, this time regarding the school-changing policy.

  • Horray for Preds ticket sales. I got mine for opening night of the season and hopefully I can afford more during the season!
