Good morning, Nashville. For all the squabbling that happened when Metro schools adopted school uniforms, it sounds like they’ve actually helped make the schools safer. Major incidents of violence and assault were down significantly last year, though the number of smaller conflicts were way up in high schools. No one has proven that the uniforms are responsible for the changes, but they definitely don’t seem to be hurting anything.
- More wet weather. We’re still shaking off the rain from yesterday, but it looks like it’s going to be another soggy day in Music City and we sure aren’t complaining. The other good news is that temperatures shouldn’t get above 80 degrees today even though it’ll probably be too wet to enjoy it.
- Sweet niblets! Miley Cyrus has had a whirlwind of a time for the past few years being all famous and stuff, though her Hannah Montana costars have had to try a little harder to scale the ladder of fame. Which is probably why Mitchel Musso is having to go around pimping a new campaign called Clean Hands Are Cool Hands, encouraging kids to wash their hands starting with Granberry Elementary in Brentwood yesterday.
- Bits & pieces. Wait, maybe English First won’t be on the ballot in November. Or maybe it will. Nobody knows! … In keeping with the trend of Counties Who Can’t Afford To Pay For Their Schools, Wilson County may be raising taxes to generate some much-needed extra revenue … Some changes may be in store for Metro Council terms.
