Good morning, Nashville. We hope you had as much fun as we did fun dodging school zones this morning on your way to work. Even though Metro Schools are back in session today, the kids in Cumberland County might be getting a few more days of summer. Or not. Truthfully, nobody knows. The school system recently found itself in a $5M hole and doesn’t have the money to start school yet, so the start date is still uncertain.
- Nevermore, nevermore, nevermore. If you hear some explosions tonight, fear not. It’s just NES blasting some birds out of their central substation with a cannon–a sound cannon, that is. Apparently bird poop can wreak some serious havoc on the machinery.
- Nebraska is trying to kill us all. Whole foods is recalling some of their ground beef sold between June 2nd and August 6th for possible E. Coli contamination. We’re listed as one of the states where it could have ended up, so if you think you have some, you may want to toss it.
- Bits & pieces. The Titans are off to a fabulous start, powering past the Rams 34-13 in Saturday’s preseason opener … Singer Isaac Hayes passed away in his Memphis home over the weekend … NAACP’s Nashville chapter celebrated its 100th birthday in Centennial Park … A Tennessee farmer is packing away seeds for when the world runs out of food.
