Our City’s Best: As Told By AOL

Everyone has a personal opinion on the best places to eat, drink and be merry in town. We’re fiercely defensive of McDougal’s for chicken fingers, Joey’s for pizza and Baja Burrito for, well, burritos – but we know that others will die fighting for Pizza Perfect or Chile Burrito

AOL’s City’s Best contest aims to settle the score. Votes have been tallied and they’ve released their conclusive list of the “best” in a score of categories. We found that sometimes our favorites wound up second or third, but it’s still a great go-to list when you’re craving barbeque but want to try something new, or if you’re trying to come up with a list of the best country bars you’ve never been to for your visiting friends.

do locals actually call it “PanPan”?

Oh man I love me some Pizza Perfect! YUM! Even the sandwiches are PERFECT!

@Anon – I can't say that I've ever heard anyone refer to the Pancake Pantry as PanPan. Point taken.

What's up with all the misspellings? Province Breads? Mafiazo's? Yeesh.

And Martin's is number 5 on the Family Restaurants list and not even listed on the Barbecue list. ???

@Morgan. It's a good name though. Maybe we should start. I think I'll suggest it to all my out-of-town friends.

@Mark Yeah, I've really never heard of someone calling it that, but I bet we could make it catch on.

I think I'll just refer to it as LineLine (sorry, I can't bring myself to wait in line for pancakes, no matter how good they are)

No category for Hot Chicken? Terrible oversight. Then again I don't want tourists jamming up Boltons.

And @Mark; PanPan, while sort of awful, would be a great thing to teach out-of-towners to use so they are even more easily identified. Commence!

@WheeeGuy: Amen. As the chicken lover of Nashvillest, I'm sort of disappointed. And weirdly enough, I was actually reading reviews on nashvillehotchicken.com earlier today. I love it!

How can anything in this poll be taken seriously? The voters named PF Chang's the best Asian restaurant, which is a sure sign of not knowing a damn thing about food.

Maniac's Chicken takes McDougal's out back, kicks it in the balls, breaks its legs, rips out its heart, sets it on fire and leaves it for dead. That is all.

@matt – Don't tell Christy. I don't eat chicken, so I'll have to take your word on it.
