Good morning, Nashville. Brittney Simpson, the 12-year old girl who was shot in the head a few weeks back by her 11-year old friend, came home from the hospital yesterday after a completely amazing recovery. If you need a good reason to smile this morning, you’ll really want to check out both Channel 4 and Channel 5’s video interviews of the family where Brittney walks and talks like nothing happened and definitely earns Nashvillest’s Cutest Kid Ever award . She’s just happy to be with her family and can’t wait to go home and eat some Hamburger Helper. Brittney is basically a champion.
- More lawsuits. The Metro Council has reversed a rezoning decision intended to keep rehab facility Teen Challenge out of Goodlettsville in order to dodge a messy lawsuit by the Department of Justice. The city has already been sued by Teen Challenge for $650,000 in damages.
- Royal flush. Nashville police busted up a poker game last night at house where they suspected an illegal gambling operation. Even better was the marijuana bust in Madison yesterday after a Nashville helicopter pilot spotted the 44 plants from the air.
- Bits & pieces. E. Coli outbreak from meat in five states, Tennessee not included (yet) … North Carolina thinks we’re trying to kill them … Tennessee is moving their data center because it’s actually sinking.
