Nashvillest Spotlight: ModerNash

July 15th, 2008 · Comments

Ever wished that IKEA was closer than Atlanta? We do, just about every day. Nashvillest HQ is decked out almost exclusively in IKEA, and there’s only so many trips to Atlanta with a borrowed pickup truck we can make before it starts to get annoying (and expensive). Luckily for us, it seems like that for every problem we encounter, some entrepreneur has created a solution. Enter ModerNash, a couple of guys who got the bright idea to go pick up popular furniture at IKEA and sell it on Craigslist at a reasonable profit. That morphed into the current version of ModerNash, where Nashvillians can place their custom IKEA orders and they’ll go pick them up and bring them back to town. It’s easy, flexible, and a lot cheaper than paying IKEA’s shipping rates on large items. They’ll even deliver to your door or set up your furniture for an additional fee. Check out their site for the pricing scale and more info. They also donate 10% of their profits to charity, so you can feel better about all that furniture you’re buying.

Seems like we could apply this idea to a multitude of different products. When will we be able to pay someone to go pick up a Slurpee in Virginia for us?
